Feeders with more than 30% losses will be shut off for 12 hours:
Lahore (Urdu Point Latest News. 03 October 2023) LESCO has decided to cut off electricity in areas where electricity is stolen. According to media reports, the Ministry of Energy has instructed the LESCO officials not to come under any pressure and said that the losses of 97 feeders of LESCO are more than 30%. Due to which it has been decided to shut off power for 12 hours on feeders with more than 30% losses.
For more than 30% losses, power will be cut off from 6 pm to 6 am. Kasur tops the list of cities with the most losses in LESCO. Losses on 4 feeders of South Circle are more than 30%. No more than 30% losses on any feeder in Central, Nankana Circle of LESCO. In District Kasur, losses are more than 30 out of 75 feeders. 11 feeders in Northern circle, 3 feeders in Eastern circle of Lesko are in loss.
Losses of 3 feeders in Sheikhupura, one in Okara are more than 30%. Meanwhile, 300 citizens involved in the charge of electricity theft in the provincial capital Lahore managed to get their interim bails from the Lahore Sessions Court. It has been reported that 200 applications for interim bail are being filed on a daily basis in the Sessions Court Lahore and the hearing process is also going on. It should be noted that on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy, under the supervision of LESCO Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider, the operation against electricity thieves is going on in all the five districts of LESCO, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana and Okara.
According to the statement issued by the LESCO spokesperson, during the twenty-sixth day of operation in LESCO, 501 connections in all districts were found to be involved in electricity theft. Applications for FIRs against 498 electricity thieves have been filed in the respective police stations, in which 291 FIRs have been registered while 132 accused have been arrested, 13 commercial, 9 agricultural, 2 industrial and 477 domestic connections were caught.
All connections have been disconnected and 758052 (seven hundred fifty eight thousand and fifty two) units have been charged in the form of detection bill, the value of which is Rs. In the operation against electricity thieves, big commercial consumers were also found involved in electricity theft.
