The American Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Paktia province and the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 10 km. Strong tremors were felt near Herat. After the earthquake in Herat, several aftershocks of magnitude 5.6 also occurred. Aftershocks were also felt in Iran and Turkmenistan, the doomsday earthquake struck at 11 am local time.
