Both runways 25R and 7L of Jinnah International Airport will be reconstructed:
Karachi (Urdu Point latest newspaper. October 7, 2023) It has been decided to construct world-class modern runways at Karachi Airport. According to CAA officials, both runways 25R and 7L of Jinnah International Airport will be reconstructed. CAA officials want to build runways in modern style. CAA has invited companies to participate in the bid for the construction of modern runways.
CAA officials say that companies must have experience, expertise and financial capacity in the relevant work. According to the authorities, the companies belonging to Pakistan must be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council. It should be noted that the Civil Aviation Authority had announced last month to close the main runway of Jinnah International Airport for 2 to 3 hours daily for maintenance work.
The Civil Aviation Authority had decided to repair the runway during the daily closure of Runway 25L for 5 months, the airlines were informed by issuing a notice regarding the repair of the runway on a regular basis and the runway was shortened on a weekly basis. A closure schedule for the time was also released. According to CAA, the main runway will be repaired at different times every Sunday, from 25 August 2023 to 23 January 2024, the repair work of Karachi Airport Runway No. 25L will be done. According to Civil Aviation, during the repair of the runway, there will be no impact on air operations as there is an alternative runway for the movement of flights.
