Islamabad (Urdupoint Newspaper Latest. 04 October 2023) A UNICEF delegation headed by Adeel Jafari, an expert in Child Protection Communication and SBC (Change in Social Attitudes), yesterday (Monday, October 2) visited the Secretary of Women Development Department, Punjab. Had a meeting with Samira Samad to discuss the important issue of child marriages. The recent statistics of Punjab have revealed shocking revelations about the increase in child marriages in flood affected areas, these revelations are sad but at the same time targeted in these areas to end this injustice to children. Also emphasizes the importance of interventions.
In order to prevent this alarming situation, experts have emphasized that collective efforts and unwavering commitment are needed to address child marriages.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the Women Development Department of Punjab and UNICEF Pakistan have decided to launch a major awareness campaign to combat child marriage in Punjab.
This awareness campaign will be linked with the 16 Days of Activism campaign. '16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence' is an annual international campaign that emphasizes the importance of preventing and ending violence against women and girls. The campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December. The campaign serves as a global organizing strategy, uniting individuals and organizations to prevent and end violence against women and girls.
